Hi, my name is Toni. I am a current graduate of Iona College. I hold a masters degree in elementary education and I am a certified teacher. My last semester in Iona I student taught in the Mount Pleasant Central School District working in the second and sixth grade. In the second grade, I taught all the subject areas, however, I worked with small groups who struggled in reading and math. My sixth grade placement was spent primarily in a math classroom. The sixth graders loved my personality and energy. I loved working with this age group and made a great connection with them! I love to play sports. I am a high school cheerleading coach. I also grew up playing softball and soccer. I have tutored a student who was in the second grade a few years back. I also have been a homework helper to a child I baby-sat for. During my student teaching placement, I spent numerous hours working one-on-one or in small groups. I enjoy seeing the difference I can make in a students academic experience. I think learning should definitely be fun. I feel that all students can learn even the hardest material if it is just presented to them a certain way. I think it is important to take time to find out what a student likes and find a way to relate these things to academic material.
