I enjoy running, yoga, cooking and reading.

I attended Moravain College in Bethlehem, PA (2003-2007) for and undergraduate degree and Manhattanville College (2007-2009) for a Master's degree in Literacy Development.

BA: History and Elementary Education

MPS: Literacy Development Birth-Grade 6

Additionally, I have completed a 20 hour course in Multi-Sensory Reading Instruction at The Windward School in White Plains, New York. This course is taught using the same principles of Orton-Gillingham.

I am a young and energetic private reading tutor. I live in Westchester and will travel to your home to work with your child. I have experience teaching first and fifth grade. I taught for two years at an independent day school in Greenwich, Ct.

I decided to become a private tutor over this past summer. I feel that I work best individually with students and greatly enjoy the personal connection that develops with this form of teaching. In addition, as a private tutor I believe that the children learn more and at a faster rate with individual instruction. For example; I began working with a first grade boy using multi-sensory/phonics based approach. He has made great strides, from being unable to read CVC/short vowel words to now reading lengthy sentences with many digraphs and long-vowel words. Most recently, I started working with another first grade boy using the same approach and in a few short weeks have already seen improvements.

In addition, as a professional educator I believe it is of utmost importance to be well informed of best practices in education. I attend at least two professional development conferences a year and subscribe to The Reading Teacher, a professional journal for literacy specialists. I have a deep passion for working with students who are in need of some extra TLC with their reading instruction. Please feel free to contact me with additional questions and a request for a resume and references.
